Smartlipo is a revolutionary procedure that uses laser energy to destroy fat cells and tighten skin.  The Smartlipo laser is manufactured by Cynosure and received FDA approval for laser lypolysis in November 2006.  The system is currently in its fourth generation design known as the Smartlipo MPX.  The MPX has the highest power of 46 watts (first generation was 6 watts) and is the only laser with internal temperature monitoring (Thermaguide) to maximize treatment results and safely.  It is also the only lipo laser on the market to offer the benefit of two different laser wavelengths during a single procedure.  The 1064nm laser wavelength liquefies and destroys the fat cells and helps coagulate small capillaries and the 1320nm laser wavelength creates heat to facilitate skin tightening.  The benefits to patients are many.

Smartlipo is ideal for patients who are healthy and not significantly over weight. Treating one or two body areas under local anesthesia is usually enough for one day. If multiple body areas require treatment and you want just one recovery then anesthesia in a surgicenter is an option.
